Thermography measures the infrared radiation (heat) which emits from the surface of the body. Areas of abnormality, pathology, or disease within the body will be observed as either hot or cold, depending on the metabolic activity.

An ultra-sensitive thermal camera and a sophisticated computer are used to convert the infrared heat emitting from the surface of the skin into electrical impulses that are visualized in color, known as a thermogram.

The thermogram is then interpreted by a team of medical doctors known as thermologists, who provide a detailed report of the findings. Thermography technology has been utilized for decades and can detect physiological changes at an early stage.

Thermography Early Detection & Prevention - Stratford Acupuncture & Nutritional Wellness Center

Early Detection & Prevention

  • A thermography screening assesses the health of the thyroid, oral cavity, breasts, abdomen, and lower body, as well as any other specific areas that may be of concern. Thermography is non-invasive and radiation-free, which makes it a great option for routine health screenings.

  • Traditional medical screenings such as X-rays, mammograms, ultrasounds, and MRIs focus on disease management, whereas thermography focuses on locating problem areas before they turn into diseases.

  • Thermography can provide the early detection necessary to implement preventive lifestyle changes with diet, exercise, and stress management.

Thermography FAQ's

  • What are the benefits of facial cupping?
    ● Increased blood circulation to the head and neck. ● Increased circulation and absorption of nutrients to the skin. ● Improved absorption of facial products. ● Drainage of stagnant fluids. ● Reduced puffiness and edema. ● Reduced appearance and prevention of facial lines and wrinkles. ● Strengthen skin and connective tissues. ● Stimulate cells responsible for collagen production. ● Brighten skin. ● Minimize the appearance of scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. ● Tone the chin, jawline, neck, and décolletage. ● Decrease puffiness. ● Regulate oil production. ● Improve nutrient delivery and product absorption.
  • What can I expect from my facial cupping session?
Your facial cupping session starts with a thin application of coconut oil or Pentaxyl Anti-aging Skincare cream. After a light face and neck massage, your facial cupping treatment begins. It is best to arrive for your treatment with long hair tied back and a clean face free of makeup and lotions. A typical facial cupping treatment lasts anywhere from 20-30 minutes. Please drink an ample amount of water before and after each treatment to help your treatment last longer. Lines and wrinkles will plump, and any scar tissue will soften. The drainage of stagnant fluids from reservoir areas will reduce edema and chronic puffiness. The muscles of the face benefit greatly from the reduction of tension and tightness, releasing expression lines and loosening tight muscle tissue. Facial cupping can provide significant therapeutic results for symptoms related to sinus infections, inflammation, edema, and patients suffering from TMJ disorders.
  • How many treatments are recommended for optimal results?
As with any therapeutic treatment, results can vary from person to person. The recommended initial course of treatment with facial cupping consists of between 6 and 12 sessions, depending on age and skin condition. The results are cumulative, especially if treatments are performed 1-2 times per week. We recommend monthly follow-up sessions to maintain the original results.
  • Is facial cupping the same as body cupping?
Yes and no. Although they’re based on the same principle of restoration, facial and body cupping are executed differently. Facial cups are typically smaller and softer. They’re used to gently pull the skin away from deeper layers of fascia. This increases blood flow to the area and rejuvenates the skin without leaving cup marks behind. Body cupping, on the other hand, is primarily used to alleviate aches and pains. Cup marks are almost always left behind, but they do serve a diagnostic purpose; the size, shape, and color are said to reflect the amount of “stagnation” or cellular waste buildup. These marks fade as your lymphatic system processes the waste.
  • Will it leave bruises?
Facial cupping, unlike body cupping, doesn’t leave bruises. In facial cupping therapy, the cups are constantly moving- cups will only leave bruises if left in one spot for too long.
  • Are there any other side effects or risks?
Although facial cupping is generally considered safe, minor side effects are possible. They typically occur during or immediately after the treatment. Temporary side effects of facial cupping include: ● Nausea ● Dizziness ● Lightheadedness ● Cold sweats If you have broken skin or active breakouts or rashes on your skin, you may not be able to receive facial cupping.
